Ceph’s S3 gateway could already send notifications to Kafka, but only over a connection with no login and no encryption. I added two new login methods to its Kafka driver — Kerberos, and single sign-on tokens — made TLS certificates easier to deploy, and reviewed the client-certificate patch. To test it properly I also set up a real Kerberos server and a real identity provider inside Ceph’s test system.
